Lily of the Valley (Convallaria majalis ) is a herbaceous perennial that spreads through underground roots called rhizomes, which makes it ideal as a ground cover. Its tolerance for shady conditions makes it perfect for use under trees or covered areas. Delicate, lightly scented white bell shaped flowers in late spring are the hallmark of this woodland plant. While the plant is poisonous if ingested, it is beneficial to several butterfly species and has earned the Royal Horticultural Societies “Award of Garden Merit” for its many positive traits.
Can be planted in the fall for spring flowering. or plant in the spring to establish for even more prolific foliage and blooming the following year.
